Local Contact: Jan Fleming 027 418 2429 Wednesday 3rd September - Club Evening John and Helen Cooper will show pictures of their adventurous five day tramp in March in the Ailsa Mountains, an area between the Greenstone and Caples valleys. John and Helens presentations are always exceptional - come and enjoy. 7.30pm Friday 12th to Sunday 14th September - Taupo Weekend Instead of Ohakune we decided to try Taupo for walkways, cycleways, hot pools and whatever else takes your fancy. Probably stay at a motorcamp with cabin and motorhome options. Sunday 21st September - Rotokare Hi Hi Count A good level of fitness and ability to negotiate traplines to spot these cute little birds with binoculars and assist Rotokare with their count. For more information contact Andrea 021 0215 7900 Sunday 28th September - Day Tramp Pouakai Hut A club walk to inspect the newest hut on the mountain, just opened this month. A 4-5 hour return trip. Leaving Clubrooms 8am. Wednesday 1st October - Club Evening Alan Rodgers - The Inca Trail. This is a less traveled destination that Alan has been fortunate enough to experience this year. 7.30pm. Sunday 5th October - Pukeiti Day Walk There are heaps of options, easy trails to view the rhododendron peak season, or a walk to the trig or the overnight hut. And of course concluding with lunch at Founders Cafe. Departing clubrooms at 9am. Saturday 11th October - Tahurangi Lodge EAC TAC shared dinner from 4pm. Overnight stay on offer, bring pillowcase, sleeping bag and a contribution to dinner and pre-dinner snacks. For access code and further information contact: David Sattler 027 209 9375 by 3rd October Sunday 19th October - New Plymouth Mystery Walks with Barry G Meet at Brooklands Zoo gates at 9.30am Walk 1 - a bit of bush, a few alley ways, street walking, a prayer or 2, school time, care for tennis? lakes and magnolias... bit of a mix Walk 2 - keep to the true left, a steady climb, ovine delights, a grassy climb, a style in sight, deathly silence, sheltered from the wind. Bev flew to Svaalbard for a fabulous Arctic experience, and then on to Iceland. 7.30pm Sunday 9th November - Maketawa Hut Change of plan from the Kokowai due to lack of parking at North Egmont. Walk starting at Stratford Mountain House carpark now. Leaving clubrooms at 8am. Leader: Kathryn Jones 027 711 2357 Sunday 23rd November - Lucy's Gully There are lots of options here from a walk to the trig via the Waiomuku Track, or a one way tramp along the Davies track to the Patuha Trig, down to Lucy's Gully, car shuttle required. Sunday 30th November - Alan Rogers Property Two options on Alans farm at the end of Kawhaiti Road, a ridge line bush walk and/or farm walk which has quite a lot of native bush which Alan traps. A reasonable level of fitness required and is weather dependent.
