kahui hut & beyond - Sunday 30th june 2024

Three club members took part on Sundays mountain tramp - Kahui Hut & Beyond lead by Bruce Finer. The weather wasn’t stunning but fine. We started from the road end at the park boundary walking the Kahui track to Kahui Hut. From the hut we took the old ridge track which proved to be a bush bash in some places. Once we came out onto the tussock & moss slopes area we could see Turehu Hill 4,500’ which was our main objective to visit. We had lunch there, checked out the rock bivvy and with the weather closing in we made a rapid decent back down to the hut. Then it was back down to our starting point. A great area of the mountain seldom visited, thank you Bruce!
