Tarere road - sunday 30th november

With a deteriorating weather forecast, we set off from the top of Ball Road to walk Okie’s Ridge and return via Alan Rogers farm.
Thanks to Fiona & Hugh McColl for access through their farm and a cut track along the ridge where they maintain a trap line.
It is a lovely walk mostly on the bush covered ridge but at times, along an old benched bridle path that dates back to the early day of breaking in the hill country.
We made it to Tarere Trig before lunch and then started our return route through the open Dept of Conservation tops that gave great views of South Taranaki.
From there, we entered Alan Rogers property and arrived back to his house just beating the forecast rain.  Perfect timing for our 14 km tramp.

Those taking part were Kathryn Jones, Michelle Meyer, John & Helen Cooper, Al Barkla, Jacob Maddren, Alan Rogers, Bruce & Jim Finer.
